Overview

Adenosine‑5′‑[beta, gamma‑methylene]triphosphate is a synthetic nucleoside triphosphate analogue of ATP in which the oxygen atom bridging the beta and gamma phosphate groups is replaced by a methylene group. This modification renders it resistant to hydrolysis by most ATPases and phosphatases. It is widely used as an experimental tool in biochemical research to study ATP-dependent processes without rapid degradation. The compound can act as a substrate or inhibitor for various enzymes that normally use ATP and helps dissect mechanisms involving nucleotide binding and hydrolysis.
